Dr. Wang has worked in various settings, including private practice, university, hospital, correctional facility (both institutional and community), and military. Since her time in Kingston, she has worked at two multi-security level federal institutions, and she is currently a staff psychologist at Canadian Forces Base Kingston and the Psychology Advisor for National Defence – Ontario Region. She is experienced in different types of assessments and aims to provide comprehensive assessments to help clients gain better understanding of themselves while also informing treatment.

At this time, Dr. Wang is not accepting any therapy clients, but will be providing consultation and supervision to trainees and associates. Dr. Wang anchors her clinical practice in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), while also incorporating elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBC), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Her areas of expertise include working with individuals experiencing various anxiety disorders, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, grief and loss, eating disorders, and personality disorders. She takes a nonjudgmental, empathic, as well as evidence-based approach to her practice, and works to help her clients manage difficult emotions, develop healthy and adaptive behaviours and relationships, and ultimately to live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Dr. Wang’s supervision style is based on an integrated model, marrying that of developmental and orientation-specific models to provide a scaffolding approach to her supervisees. She has a special interest in supervision and training, and had made this her area of research during her master’s degree. She is deeply committed in supporting and fostering the development of up-and-coming therapists and assessors in their journey to becoming the psychologists they aspire to be.
